Hunter's Hot Springs and Old Perpetual in Lakeview
Hunter's Hot Springs is about 2 miles north of Lakeview in the Goose Lake Valley.
Old Perpetual
Wikipedia reports that Harry Hunter bought the springs in 1923 and had three wells drilled to add hot water to a planned health resort. All three erupted as geysers, and only Old Perpetual kept erupting. At its peak it threw 200-degree water 50 to 60 feet in the air about every 90 seconds. It stopped after June 2009, possibly partly because of nearby geothermal development, and by May 2015 it appeared to be erupting again.
Before you go
The geyser's activity varies by season. Wikipedia's Lakeview page says it is often quiet from about September 1 to mid-October. Do not rely on a fixed schedule, and respect posted property signs.
