About Lakeview

Lakeview is the county seat of Lake County, Oregon, in the Goose Lake Valley at the foot of the Warner Mountains. It was organized in 1876, its post office opened that December and it was incorporated in 1889. Wikipedia puts Klamath Falls 96 miles to the west.

Lakeview in numbers

The figures below are for the Census-defined place of Lakeview, not the surrounding countryside. The Census Bureau publishes a margin of error with every estimate; we did not pull them, and for a place this small they are wide relative to the estimate, so read each figure as a rough guide, not a precise count.

Measure Lakeview
Population (Census 2020) 2,418
Population (PSU certified, July 1, 2025) 2,449
Population (ACS 2020-2024) 3,270 (noisy)
Households 1,454
Owner-occupied share of households 62.4%
Median household income $70,900
Median home value (owner-occupied) $202,500
Median age 42.8
Residents aged 65 and over 22.0%
Owner-occupied homes valued at $300,000 or more 184 of 908
Business establishments, ZIP 97630 137

The ACS population (3,270) is too high and should not be used. It is well above the 2020 Census count (2,418) and the Portland State University Population Research Center's certified estimate for July 1, 2025 (2,449, about 1.3 percent above 2020). Use those two for population. The other ACS figures come from 1,454 households and carry wide margins of error, so read them as rough. About one in five owner homes (184 of 908) is valued at $300,000 or more.

How we got these numbers

  • Households, income, home value, age, owner-occupied share and the home-value bracket come from the American Community Survey (ACS) 5-year estimates for 2020-2024, read through Census Reporter. The owner-homes figure is from table B25075 and counts owner-occupied homes only.
  • "Census 2020 population" is the count from the 2020 Census, read from Census TIGERweb. It is a head count, not an estimate, so it is the better population number to use.
  • Business counts are from Census ZIP Code Business Patterns 2023 and are by ZIP code, not by city limit. They leave out businesses with no paid employees.
  • Portland State University's certified population estimate for July 1, 2025 is from its Population Research Center, as listed in the League of Oregon Cities population table.
